I am filing 2020-2023 for a client and using Wage and Income Transcripts for the federal return.  How can they go about getting how much state tax was withheld those years? The state in Maryland if that has relevance.

Is the employer still in business?  Your client might not have left on the best of terms, but they still should make the attempt to get the W-2s.  Or are there five of them from each year?

it’s a bit messy some years have W-2s and 1099 NECs so I think it is best to get the tax records to ensure everything is included
