Question

NY IT-2 prints $0.00 state and local wages for one W-2 record while that record's withholding prints correctly

ProConnect Tax, tax year 2025. Form 1040 with a New York IT-201. Full-year New York City resident, three W-2s, all three with New York State and New York City wages and withholding. Single state, no part-year or multi-state allocation on any of them.

On the generated IT-2 (Summary of W-2 Statements), two of the three W-2 records print correctly, with Box 16a (NYS wages) and Box 18 (local wages) each equal to Box 1.

The third record prints Box 16a NYS wages = .00 and Box 18 Local wages = .00, while Box 17a (NYS income tax withheld) and Box 19 (local income tax withheld) both print correctly from that same record. The source W-2 for that employer has Box 16 and Box 18 populated and equal to Box 1 (roughly $11,300).

No diagnostic fires and nothing shows on Check Return. The withholding still foots correctly to IT-201 lines 72 and 73, and the refund is unaffected, so this is a reporting problem rather than a math one. But the IT-2 instructions say to enter in box 16a the New York State wages exactly as reported on federal Form W-2, and that if you have no New York State wages or withholding, leave boxes 16a and 17a blank. What ProConnect produces here is the combination the instructions do not contemplate: zero reported state and local wages while still claiming that record's state and city withholding. That is the pattern state matching tends to flag.

What I have already tried, all on the failing record:

1. The state and local grid's (16) State Wages, Tips, etc. [Override] and (18) Local Wages, Tips, etc. [Override] columns. The values commit and they register in the Overrides count. The form output does not change.

2. The non-grid "(16) State wages, if different" and "(18) Local wages, if different" fields on the same screen. These reject the input entirely, the value never persists, entered by keystroke rather than paste.

3. The grid's (20) Locality Name, which was blank on the failing record and populated on the two that work. It commits fine, but the wage boxes do not change.

After all three, the failing record's inputs are identical to the two records that print correctly, and it still prints zero.

Has anyone run into this? Is there an input that actually drives IT-2 Box 16a and Box 18, or is this one for support?
