Mortgage Interest not reported on 1098 together with Excess Interest Calculation
Taxpayer has multiple mortgages with one over the threshold, so I used the bottom half of Sch. A>Interest to calculate the average debt balance and allowable interest deduction.
When reconciling the average debt balance, I figured out that there was some interest paid not reported on the 1098.
There's nowhere on that bottom half to notate interest not reported on 1098, so I entered it on the top half "Home mortgage interest not on Form 1098".
Now I'm getting a critical diagnostic "Home mortgage interest not on Form 1098 has an invalid ZIP code for the state selected. US - Ref #35055"
Any ideas how I can fix this?
I have a zip code in general info, so I'm not sure where else it would want a zip code.
