Question

KY 8879-K

The software-generated instructions for the Kentucky individual return say that the taxpayer must sign a 8879-K ... the state's version of the e-file authorization. However, that form does not get included in the PDF. The e-file instructions reference it, but the form is not generated. I called support and the agent had no idea.

    Kentucky, not KS.

Sorry, I cut my index finger and typing is greatly hampered.

I just tried KY only state return and I get a client letter that say “Your 2025 Kentucky Individual Income Tax Return will be electronically filed with the State of Kentucky”. I do not see 8879-K anywhere, except when I click ALL for FORMS where I could force it to print.   I just did a quick sample return with rental income.  I added a w-2 with ky withholding and still no 8879-K. Maybe @IntuitKatie could rattle a cage or two.

I see it under all forms also. Just can’t get it to print even if doing a partial print to PDF.

Hi @freshy70 thanks for posting in the Community about the KY 8897-K not being included in the PDF. We looked at the instructions  for the 8879-K and see that it is only required if e-filing KY by itself. If filing the federal return at the same time, it is not required. We have asked for the instructions in the program to be updated to make this clearer.
