Is it possible to paper file the federal return and e-file for states?

My client's return got rejected by the IRS (Code: R0000-902-01) so we now have to paper file. However, can I still e-file California and Michigan returns via ProConnect?

If the state is not a PIGGYBACK  https://proconnect.intuit.com/community/help-articles/help/ef-atlas-federal-state-ef-method-standalone-vs-piggyback/00/5565

So, YES you can e-file the state returns separately. I am unsure if PTO has that function. Maybe @itonewbie  could confirm.

MY GUESS is that the states will be rejected for the same reason.

I agree with you, George.  PTO works the same way.
