Question

IRS rejected a tax return because the Spouse's SSN didn't match the e-File database for the Spouse's Name Control. How do I fix it?

Filing MFJ. I took off all letters of the spouse's name except the first letter.  The return is still rejected.

Perhaps SSA has maiden name instead of married name.

Or, does spouse have two last names?

The more I know the more I don’t know.
