incorrect date of birth

I entered the tax payer DOB incorrectly on 2018 return.  The refund was approved, but the funds still have not been released.  Do I need to do an amended return to correct this error so they taxpayer can receive the refund?

    It was filed in 2019.

    But 2019 covers a big chunk of the calendar.  What was the actual date of acceptance?

    You do not do an amended return for this. If it was just filed in 2020, you likely just need to wait a bit longer. I would give it at least 4 weeks. YOU, as paid preparer, can contact IRS directly https://www.irs.gov/tax-professionals/practitioner-priority-service-r
