If I accidentally opened an account and for some reason it didn't add that I was a student how do I change that? I need to be able to print a PDF for a class.

You wont be able to print for free from a regular account.

Ive seen several posts like this, Im not sure why the educators teaching the class arent giving better instruction for where to access the software that you need.

I see a hyperlink on this page to ProConnect Tax Online for Students to register, this is probably what you need (but I have no firsthand knowledge about how this works)

Agree with @Just-Lisa-Now- . You will need to register your product through Intuit's Education Program, which is run and supported separately from the commercial product. The registration page is a couple pages deeper than the URL Lisa posted: https://www.intuit.com/partners/education-program/products/proconnect-tax-online/student-signup/
