IRS wants to know where to send you mail, Id use the PO Box.  You cant input 2 addresses.

Yes I'd use the mailing address on the 1040.

But some states, such as MD, also require you to tell them your physical address as of 12/31/20.

The more I know the more I don’t know.

I have some folks that live places where there is no PO street delivery.  Some of those folks will provide a street address followed by the PO Box.  As long as the physical address isn't too long, I will sometimes go that route and type both addresses on the address line of the return.

I've done that, too.

I put the mailing address and make notes.  If street address gets mail (not directed to PO BOX) then I put street address.  That is something some states (California) and USPS has got to get on the same page.  California requires street addresses.  When they print some 1099's they use a PO BOX.
