Question

I am using proconnect this year for the first time to self prepare and efile my own personal tax return. Why is it saying I need an efin? How do I get around this?

ProConnect Tax is a professional tax software designed for use by professional tax practices, which would generally have been approved for and issued an EFIN by the IRS for efiling.  Professional tax software is not suitable for consumer use because it requires input and technical considerations most untrained persons would not be familiar with.

If you are not a tax professional, you should go back to using a consumer product, which would not require EFIN for efiling.
