Hi

I am on H1b and my is on F1 -OPT.

As a non-resident alien , she was exempt form FICA . So FICA is not withheld from her paychcek

Now , We are filling jointly and treating her as a resident alien .

https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/nonresident-alien-spouse

 1. Does she have to pay the FICA taxes ?

2. If yes , How can we pay the FICA? I have filled all the details in turbo-tax . But it never complained about FICA not being withheld on her W2

3. According to https://www.irs.gov/individuals/international-taxpayers/aliens-employed-in-the-us-social-security-ta...

"

  • The exemption does not apply to nonimmigrants in F-1, J-1, M-1, or Q-1/Q-2 status who become resident aliens for tax purposes.
