Question

I am doing a tax return and the person is a dependent of another. Why is it still calculating the standard deduction as $12550?

The Standard Deduction remains the same for everyone.

The Exemption amount, which was eliminated in 2018, is where any change would occur for a dependent claimed on another return.

Except for married people.  And heads of household.  And older people.  And the blind.  And dependents without sufficient earned income.

I don't know PTO but is the "You as a dependent" box checked on the front of the 1040?  If not, work on fixing that first.  If so, do you have sufficient earned income to get the full standard deduction?
