Question

I am completing the return MFJ. Each spouse received $1,400 in EIP3 stimulus recovery rebate credit. However, the credit is not being applied. Why no deduction for this?

What deduction?

They should end up with zero Recovery Rebate Credit on the 1040 since they received the maximum amount as an advance.

The more I know the more I don’t know.

    Are you confusing Payment and Credit?

    "Individuals who did not qualify for, or did not receive, the full amount of the third Economic Impact Payment may be eligible to claim the 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit based on their 2021 tax year information."

    You don't get Both.
