Filing an amendment for RDP in Community Property State. Rejected by efile

I’m filing an amendment for 2023, and the clients are registered domestic partners (RDPs) in California. According to IRS Publication 555, I need to file their federal status as single but split their income and deductions. This means I have to include both of their W-2s when reporting their income.

When I attempt to e-file, the return keeps getting rejected because the W-2 SSN doesn’t match, and since I’m filing as single, I’m not adding the spouse’s information in the main client panel.

I tried entering the spouse's W-2 information in the "Employee Information (if different than Client Information)" section at the bottom of the W-2 panel, including the spouse's SSN and details, but the e-file is still being rejected.

How can I file as single, include the spouse's W-2 for income splitting, and avoid the e-file rejection, given that the spouse’s SSN isn’t part of the main client panel?

fake it by entering the taxpayer's SSN?

The more I know the more I don’t know.

Yeah, I guess I could do that. Hopefully that doesn't have any unforeseen ramifications.
