Filing a tax return with W2 wages (NO EIN)

Hello,

I have a client who needs to file tax returns from prior years, but does not have his W2. I am able to fill out the amounts as I pulled this info from the client's transcripts on ID.ME, but the full EIN number is not available. Client is unable to contact his former employer. Does anyone know how to retrieve the EIN/State ID or a way to file a return in ProConnect without this info?

Thank you!

I typically get that info from State Unemployment and/or Worker Comp. If your taxpayer knows someone still working there or recently working there, perhaps that person can provide the info.

Maybe your client can contact a former co-worker and get the information from him or her?
