Question

Client qualifies for the election to not file F1116 and still claim the foreign tax credit. How do I suppress F1116 and still have the foreign tax credit on the return?

  1. Navigate to Credits > Foreign Tax Credit (1116) > Foreign Tax Credit (1116);
  2. On the input screen, click on Gen. Info/Election in the top-right corner; and
  3. Make your entry on the line Elect not to file Form 1116: 1=do not print election statement, 2=print election statement.
