Client itemizes on federal return but NYS IT-201 defaults to Standard Deduction even though itemized deductions are higher?

How do I prepare NYS IT-196 for itemized deductions?

It should be automatic. Go to Check Return > Forms and click All to find the IT-196 and see what figures are there. It may be that some deductions you thought should be there are not flowing. 

P.S. I don't do NY returns, so not sure what is allowable for state purposes.

P.P.S. I had a client that worked for Fluke Corp and he said their motto was "If it works, it's a fluke!"
