Cannot e-fil when FYE was prior to December 2020 (US - Ref #14168)
Decedent died 12/29/19, fiscal year end is 11/30/20. I input the return and am ready to file. Critical diagnostic: "Federal 1041 returns with a fiscal year ending before December of 2020 cannot be e-filed. File the 1041 return as a conventional paper return. US - Ref #14168"
I understand I have 4.5 months from the end of the fiscal year to file this, and that I am within that timeframe. I'm not sure why it can't be e-filed. Is it true that 1041s can't be e-filed in these situations, or is there some problem on my end? Thanks in advance.
