Can you get an acceptance letter for an amended return?

My client needs proof that the IRS accepted her return.

    If you are paper filing the amended return, send it certified mail return receipt requested.

      I just did this for a client last week.  If you call the IRS and ask them to send you the "account transcript", the transcript will show you if the return has been received and/or processed. 

      If it was received you will see code "599 Tax Return Secured" on the transcript with a date next to it.
