Can I still E-File a tax return when its extension E-File was rejected?

My partnership business client asked me to file their 2020 business tax extension back in March.  The extension E-File was rejected as her partner used another firm to E-File the extension without telling her, so my extension E-File was the duplicated one.

The client got back to me recently and expressed their willingness to use our Firm to file their 2020 business return by 9/15.   My question is: will the 2020 extension E-File rejection disable us from E-File  the tax return?

Answer to original question is:
Yes, Extension and tax return filings are independent - i.e. Go ahead and e-file the actual return.
Answers are easy. Questions are hard!
