Can I download my free trial on my mac? I am getting a message stating there's no application to open the document

You chose ProConnect Tax Online (which runs in the cloud) as your tax product but your screenshot shows that you are dealing with an installer (probably for Lacerte). 

Lacerte and ProSeries (and, in fact, all the professional tax software, AFAIK) do not run on Mac natively.  If you must run it (like any other Windows programs) on a Mac, you need to use Virtual Machine, Boot Camp, WINE, etc. but Intuit may not be able to support you in case you run into problems.
