Question

Both taxpayer and spouse on MFJ return are teachers. I entered $300 educator expense for each as an adjustment but only $300 is carrying to Schedule 1, not $600. Why?

You  entered 300 in each of the two columns? It seems to work just fine.

The Spouse is a Ph.D. who is teaching at a High School but still wishes to be described as "Professor" as the Occupation on the tax return.  There were $300 worth of legitimate educator expenses, but I believe that because I entered "Professor" as the occupation, the ProConnect software disallowed the deduction.  I changed the Occupation to "Teacher" and tried to enter $300 again under the "Spouse" column of the appropriate educator expenses data entry.  But it simply would not carry to the tax return.

My next guess is you did not get the filing status correct. The title should not have a thing to do with it. Contact Support EITHER https://proconnect.intuit.com/community/proconnect-tax-news-updates/discussion/proconnect-tax-assistant/00/234845 OR https://proconnect.intuit.com/support/en-us/help-article/intuit-account-settings/contact-proconnect-tax-help/L031xWrR5_US_en_US?uid=le1lkg4y and they can help you find the problem.
