2025 Short Year 990

I have a tax client who was a not for profit that closed during 2025.  They would like to file a short year return and we tried on paper and it was rejected.  How do I efile a 2025 return?  Do I have to wait until 2025 opens?

What is the short year period? Do you know why the paper return was rejected? Did you use RED Sharpie to cross out 2024 and write 2025 on the paper return? (That always work for me, but then again we had a different administration then.)

If you have to file on 2025 forms, then yes I would do e-file when the season opens in 2026.
