1040X - explanation needs lots of work

I am so frustrated with something.  On the explanation section for an amended return, your spacing SUCKS.  I am so embarassed as to how the ultimate end product looks.  I spent probably 45 minutes with Randi who could make the issue no better. I'm embarrassed that my client and the IRS will see this.  The box where you put info, should be like a word document.  However it is not.  This is strictly a cosmetic, which should be fixed. It's all the IRS and the client see.  Very unprofessional.    Intuit/Proconnect, call me at [phone # removed]

The explanation does not allow paragraph, everything is in a super long line.

Step 1:  Type 11 letters.  "SEE ATTACHED"

Step 2:  Type a concise explanation, typographically attractive, as a separate document and convert it to a PDF.

What do you do with the PDF? If it is paper filed, you can include it. For E-file, you attach to the return? The IRS advise not to attach anything that needs the IRS attention.

Where does IRS advise practitioners not to attach anything that needs IRS attention?  It says right on the form, above where you can enter the explanation, "Attach any supporting documents."

For a return or communication that will be manually handled, yes you can attach supporting documents, but for E-filed return, my software (Intuit's Proconnect Online) says right there "NOTE: Do not attach any document that needs IRS approval or attention". I am not sure if this applies to E-filed amended return which is likely to be handled manually by the IRS. Regardless, I feel it is better to put explanation directly where the IRS expects it.
