I am a 26 year or more lacerte program user, I called  to make two payments on my auto renewal today and was told I would lose my discount if I paid in two installments. The program is pricy enough with a discount and now much more for the program. My business lost business during the pandemic.  With that said, I love working with the lacerte program and their support team is great, thus I was willing to pay the price. If I do a deferred payment I will lose my discount of 1,232.56 and will have to pay $8,804.00 for the unlimited individual program and continue to use REP for my business tax returns.  I am looking at Drake software....I love the pricing and the person I spoke with was very customer service oriented. Has anyone out there used Drake software? If so what is your opinion on the program? The pricing is extremely affordable.  If I purchase the Unlimited Users program by November 30th I believe, I will pay $2,345 as opposed to 8,804.00.  Wow!  The perks:

Unlimited Users Included, data conversion is free, unlimited 1040, 1040-MR, 1040-SS Returns, and to boot, they inlude the following business returns WITHOUT a REP Fee: 1120,1120-s,1120-H, 1065, 1041. 990 & 706 and Unlimited filings.

Federal & State e-file included with the pricing.  Unlimited State returns, regardless of what State you use.  I have returns that have/had multiple states and we pay for those additonal states.  Lacerte gives you the State you reside in and includes with the Federal, other multiple state returns, we get charged for the other states that are filed with your return.

And other perks!  Love the lacerte program, but I think this is where I am going.  Actually, after speaking with the billing department....my loyalty to lacerte has been steadfast to say the least, but questionable now.

It’s a big step backwards from Lacerte to Drake.  If you do real basic returns the step backwards might be worth it.  If you deal with a fair number of fairly complex returns, watch your step.

Sometimes you get what you pay for.

The more I know the more I don’t know.
