Question about Canadian moving to America

One of my clients worked in Canada for 3/4 of 2021, meets American girl, moves to Pennsylvania, gets married in November in the States, and is working on becoming a permanent resident there. He had no property or major assets to deal with. His mom dropped off all his slips for his Canadian income and informed me of these changes. Does he get his return done in States? Please excuse my ignorance, this the first time I have had to deal with this situation. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If he has severed all personal ties to Canada (drivers license, medical, etc.), he would be considered an emigrant.  He files a Canadian tax return covering his period of residency.  You enter his departure date on the INFO screen under residency and follow the diagnostics.  You will have to complete the Schedule A/B.  If he is now a permanent resident of the US, he will file a US tax return there, covering the period from when he immigrated to the end of the year.  He will have to have a US social security number or a TIN, which I'm sure he must have by now.
