Hi Everyone,

I have a client who is an Ontario resident and a university student who did her work term at a company based in Quebec (she was not there physically re: COVID). She received both the Releve 1 and T4 for 2021 taxes.  I understand that part.  I purchased the TP1 from Profile to complete that part of her taxes (I have no experience doing a Quebec return). The program calculated a payable for Premium payable under the Quebec Prescription drug Insurance Plan (related Schedule K) of a sizable amount.  I would think that there is an exception that would apply especially because she didn't even step foot in the province but reading through Schedule K I couldn't find one.

Can anyone shed light on this for me?

Unless she was actually covered for part of the year under the Quebec Prescription Drug Insurance plan, she is not required to file a Quebec tax return (unless she had self-employed business income in Quebec or received things like a child tax credit from Quebec).  If she was covered under that plan, she does have to file and would have to pay the premium.
