Is there any difference for donations to charity and Political contributions?  is the credit the same or they need to be treated differently?

Hi, thank you for using Intuit ProFile Community

Charitable and political contributions are treated differently in ProFile to follow CRA rules.

Charitable contributions are a non-refundable credit entered on the donations screen.

Political contributions are either federal or provincial. Federal political contributions are a deduction from basic federal tax entered on the ProFile othercredit screen. Provincial political contributions are usually a provincial credit and post to line 47900 of the T1 jacket.

Hope this helps
