native tax exempt

hi when i check box for native on infor page it is suppose to make me tax exempt but when i do my tax return it is still calculating in the federal and provincial tax amount how do i change that

Hi there,

Only very specific incomes of Natives are exempt.  Those types of incomes are entered differently that other income.  If you have exempt income be sure that it is entered correctly.

You need to review the rules for exemption.  There is a lot of information on the CRA site.  https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/indigenous-peoples.html
