on the info screen when you are completing the address and province of residence. Be sure you mark all the correct boxes and indicate the province of residence Dec 31st.

Hi, I made all the corrections on the boxes like I changed the province of residence to Nova Scotia and date of the move. but the software is still calculating the tax of the Ontario province.

is the client mailing address NS?

Prov of res NS?

Home address same as mailing?

No overrides by accident?

Is the return coupled or single return. Mmmm not sure where to go with this next.

Hi, thank you for using Intuit ProFile Community

If in the residency section of the Info tab, the province of residence December 31, Nova Scotia is selected, Nova Scotia tax will be calculated on NS428 and the result transferred to line 42800 of the T1 tax return.  In this case the return will be sent with Nova scotia tax. If ON 428 was previously opened in the return, the Ontario tax calculation will still be visible but the result will not transfer to the T1 and is not used to calculate balance/refund

Hope this helps

Duncan are you saying that the program is calculating and transmitting the Nova Scotia taxes but visually the preparer is seeing the Ontario taxes? So what is showing as the bottom line? Will the printout be what has been efiled to CRA?

I think that Profile is calculating provincial taxes for all provinces, but only enters the provincial tax of the province the taxpayer resided in on December 31.
