Question

How to claim OTB & OSTC for stay in Ontario after moving to SK and how to claim similar benefit of SK?

A tax payer was paying his house rent in Ontario during the tax year till November 2021  but he was transferred in December 2021, to another province SK. After moving to SK, he paid one month's house rent  for December 2021. Since he was resident of SK as on December 31, 2021, he entered his province as SK under residency section of  T1 return.

Had he been resident of Ontario as on December 31, 2021, he would have claimed his ONBEN (OTB and OSTC-line item 61020) and by entering his full year's rent paid amount. How should he claim his OTB for 11 months (Jan. to November) and how should he claim his benefit for December in SK. which line item he should enter his house rent amount paid in Ontario (for 11 months) and paid in SK (for one month). I will appreciate if some one help me out in this respect. Thanks,

OTB & OSTC are only payable to residents of Ontario.  Since he moved to Sk he is no longer entitled to those credits.  I dont believe SK has a similar benefit.
