Question

2024 T1 file prepared on Computer A cannot be opened except as read-only on Computer B

I've used Profile for 30+ years, and this is the first year this has happened.  I have two stations I work from, and this year, if I create a file on computer A, save it to my server (as always) then try to open it from Computer B, it only allows me to open it as "read-only".

Through my searches, it was recommended that I try changing the security authorizations on the actual file itself (eg file explorer, properties, security, edit...) but it refuses to accept "all" as an option.  Further, if I look at files I created last year and earlier, they are all file protected in the exact same way, but I am still able to open them on either of my computers.

The help folks are nice and they try hard, but honestly, this is something that only happened this year, so it's a tech thing and I've only so many hours I can stay on the phone and chat lines while they talk amongst themselves - I've a tax business to run.  Anyone else have the issue and have any idea how to fix it?

Is this option checked when you open the file?

Sounds like a Flexible Licensing Issue. Do you have it configured? Check under HELP Menu Option.
