What is the most efficient method to amend a married filing joint return to married filing separate?

The MFJ/MFS Wksht indicates a Federal tax savings with the option to split the return. The tax return was already e-filed with the Married Filing Joint status.

The only way to do this is to paper file superseding MFS returns before the 4/15 deadline.  If the deadline gets extended you may have more time but I wouldn't sit around waiting to see what might happen.
