Question

What is the issue w/ emailed out (from lacerte) organizers' passwords?

Has anyone else had clients reach out to say that they are only able to get into the PDF of the 2025 organizer one time before the password is miraculously invalid? This is extremely frustrating as I sent out hundreds of PDF organizers via the email feature in Lacerte, and now clients are only able to access one time with the provided last four of SS + zip code password before it says the password is invalid. Means they can't re-open to add, and I can't open to see any information, aka a waste of everyone's time. Is there a resolution, or perhaps an idea of what the passwords are changing to? Lacerte?

I don't have an answer for you, but a few thoughts/questions.

Respectfully, for my understanding, may I take a step back and ask why you are password-protecting organizers? I realize you've already sent them out, so this is not going to offer a solution now, just looking ahead. I don't use the Lacerte organizers anymore, so it's been a couple years, but if I recall correctly, the SSN is redacted. There is other PII, but are you using a portal that you could deliver these through next year more securely? I used to send them through first SmartVault and later TaxDome.

If you have a portal, the fastest fix would probably be to re-generate the organizers sans passwords and deliver them that way.

Finally, making sure you are aware that this is primarily a peer-forum. Support rarely visits here. So you'd need to call Support for hands-on help and investigation of this issue.
