Question

W-2 box 12, code W $400 for HSA. It is showing as a deduction on 1040, line 9. The $400 has already reduced box 1 wages on W-2. How do I keep it from deducting on 1040?

I checked box 1 on Form 8889 to indicate coverage under a HDHP.

    Are you SURE you didn't enter the $400 somewhere on Form 8889?

    Look at Form 8889 line 2. There should not be an entry there.
