Extensions - permission is strongly advised.  Just an email from the client with permission to extend is good enough, per Aon.

    Agreed.

    I decided to put it in my engagement letter that by signing it, they are authorizing me to file an extension if I deem that one is warranted. So when I file an extension, it's more my expert professional authority "I'm telling you that we're doing this" rather than giving the client the authority by asking "may I?"
