Superseded Returns

Given the facts that there will be so very many superseded returns to file and the IRS' issue with backlogged mail, wouldn't it be nice if Lacerte supported a "check the box" for superseded returns so we do not have to paper file them? I think we pay enough to cover that. I encourage all to call support and request that they update to support superseded returns.

And IRS efile specs do not recognize Superseded for 1040 returns, among others. Can't blame this on Intuit.

Update - New for 2021 Lacerte does offer the option of filing a Superseded Return in the Partnership, Corporate, S Corporate, and Fiduciary modules.

The option to mark a return (as well as instructions to file) can be found in the Electronic Filing screens in a section titled Superseded Return.
