Section 179(f) Depreciation

Commercial rental is eligible for § 179 Depreciation. They installed a new fire alarm in 2025. This a 39 year asset that is eligible for 179(f). However, when entering as a 39 year property, I receive a diagnostic stating that this is an invalid method for 179. I am in CA where we do not conform to 179(f).

How would I override to get the 179 on this eligible asset?

Since you're receiving a diagnostic when entering the Section 179 deduction, these Lacerte depreciation resources may be helpful:

If you need assistance determining the appropriate Lacerte input or resolving the diagnostic, we recommend reaching out to Lacerte Support as they can best assist you with your specific situation.

Lacerte doesn’t have this option programmed in. They need to add a check box for 39 year property eligible for Section 179(f) deduction. Since it is not an eFile diagnostic, I am ignoring it per my discussion with a Lacerte support rep. Thank you.
