The 2025 return requires us to answer if a dependent is a full time student or not. It would be helpful if that box was in the Organizer with the dependent info. Just add a "Full Time Student" Y or N box on the dependents page (2).

Are you sure? I don't think the Draft Instructions are out yet, and I'm wondering if that only needs to be answered if the child is age 19 or older (in which case, you have always needed to ask the client that). But that is only a guess, and we'll need to wait and see.

At any rate, I agree, if it isn't in the organizer, it could be good idea to add it. The slight problem is that taxpayer probably doesn't really know the tax definition of "full-time" and may lead to confusion or wrong answers.

It looks like I responded too quickly; the Draft 1040 Instructions came out today.

Unfortunately, at first glance, it isn't particular clear if we need to check those boxes for a child under age 19. The introduction to the Dependents section possibly implies to do it, but then the flow chart doesn't actually direct you to do it unless the child is not under age 19.
