I have a NJ state pension which is non-taxable for NJ purposes, I entered zero in the state taxable box but it is showing as taxable on the NJ return.

I'm guessing there is either a secret NJ code used to back it off on the state or a manual entry that needs to be made on the state to back it off.

When I entered a negative 1 in the state taxable amount box the program treated the amount as nontaxable for NJ.

When you said zero, I assumed you meant that crazy -1 that Lacerte uses.  Mystery solved  😀
