Letter 12C

I have never had so many Letter 12C in my life,  each and every other letter is requesting verification of Federal Tax withheld.  All Fed W/H done on 1099-R and SSA-1099.  Shouldn't they already have this information from the payers?  Now, the letter says it will take 6-8 weeks to process the return!  Anyone else getting an abnormally high volume of IRS letters this year?

      Have you looked at the returns related to these 12C letters.....

      Have you verified your federal withholdings for these clients is accurate.   

      is there a common 1099R Payer between clients?
