Question

Is anyone getting an error that says "Cannot create file <path> LSCAlerts.W0". The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process?

Is anyone getting an error that says "Cannot create file <path> LSCAlerts.W0". The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process?

The above is the detail when you get an error where you get a choice to send or don't send the error.  It happens randomly when poking around in my 2020 Lacerte program.

Updating the program and installing the update doesn't seem to fix it. Any clues?

Thanks!

Quit poking around?

Seriously - Try the new Lacerte Tool Hub https://proconnect.intuit.com/community/help-articles/help/fix-common-problems-and-errors-with-the-lacerte-tools-hub/00/71892?src=lctoolhub51420 I would use the FORCE install. I does not do anything to your data, it just does a new clean install of the program.

If this does not do it, then there may have been a new Windows update causing the issue. Google gives things like https://appuals.com/fix-the-process-cannot-access-the-file-because-it-is-being-used-by-another-process/

Sounds like one of two things. Either a damaged installation in which case the aforementioned force install would resolve it OR interference from security software. If the former doesn't resolve the issue then contacting IT and having them configure lacerte to be ignored by AV and firewall is the next most likely solution. There is an article to assist them in that : https://proconnect.intuit.com/community/data-security/help/firewall-and-anti-virus-software-configuration-for-lacerte-tax/00/5165
