IRS maintenance schedule

I need to summit 2023 form 1040X and I need to know if the IRS will have finished its maintenance by then.

It's 1/9/24 and you need to submit a 2023 1040X?  You are obviously a person ahead of their time.  But for what it's worth, in case that is a 2022 or 2021 return, e-filing opens up 1/29/24.

    Depending on the complexity, consider paper filing the amended return.  That'll get it in the queue faster than the 1/29 opening date.

    *Supposedly*, X's are processed in the order received whether paper or plastic, er efile.

      I think they are processed in the order of the 'pile'.  The tricky thing is what the IRS does with the return when they receive it - whether it gets into the 'pile' right away or if it wanders around the IRS for a few months before they lose it.  🤣
