Question

If a TP received 1098-T form with amount in box 1 and box 7 checked, the student info worksheet for student status, "was this person a student during 2024" is that Y/N?

TP received 1098-T, didn't attend school in 2024 but has box 7 checked for prepayment of Spring 2025, I am not able to leave question Was this person a student during 2024 as no, program tells me to put yes so she can take a credit for tuition paid.

    At least for purposes of the American Opportunity Credit, Publication 970 says:

    "For at least one academic period beginning (or treated as beginning) in 2024, the student both: ...

    For 2024, treat an academic period beginning in the first 3 months of 2025 as if it began in 2024 if qualified education expenses for the student were paid in 2024 for that academic period. "
