    Highlight all the files Clients > use Ctrl + B to Backup to the flash drive

    On the new computer > use Ctrl + R to Restore (Highlight all the files Clients from the flash drive

    All of the steps are in this article https://accountants.intuit.com/support/en-us/help-article/download-products/install-lacerte-new-computer/L5kH8e3C2_US_en_US?uid=mb81x1ec$srcG4T

    Edited to clarify what to copy from the program and not from the directories. Thank you @abctax55

    YVW - Mr. Tacks 😉

    And FWIW, if you use the ToolHub > Data  - it backs up all the x.data folders for you.

     Just a bit of history of my inspiration for my name - I had a packet of these  when they first came out and I see them on E-Bay for about $10.

    I also had a packet of these  and they are on E-Bay for about $50. Unfortunately I clean house a few decades ago and away they went.

    @joe7230

    Follow George's instructions to back-up/restore.

    Copying client files doesn't work in Lacerte as there are 8 or so actual files per client.

    Alternatively, you *can* copy/paste the idata/pdata/sdate etc folders if you are conversant in file explorer and the appropriate Lacerte data path(s).
