    (a) Determine which software you are using

    (b) Check check with your client for their filing status and if MFS, does the spouse itemize.

    (c) Check with your client to determine if they are a dual-status alien.

    they are filing married filing jointly

    (c) Check with your client to determine if they are a dual-status alien

    they are both usa citizens

    Which software? Proconnect Tax Online? Proconnect ProSeries? Proconnect Lacerte?

    If Lacerte - Look at the first entry in Screen 25 - that should be blank
