Question

How do I get Lacerte to update in 2024?

I understand the 2024 program is supposed to have auto updates, but mine are not working.  I've turned the auto update on and off and on again.  Prior to that I downloaded the updates in the scheduler.  I tried importing them but have no idea what the path is for the updated file.

I am so frustrated with this.  I've already spent over half an hour just to try to update.  I've turned the program off and on multiple times as well as restarted my computer.

Help would be very much appreciated, as I need to do some e-filing and cannot under the current version.

    Hi @Natalie
Try downloading tool hub and Run WebSetup to force a clean install of Lacerte. Here's an article for steps: How to perform a force install of Lacerte Let me know if this resolved e-filing when you get a chance.

Thank you, Gabi.  I'll try to remember that next time.

Today I was also unable to install the update.  I checked to make sure it's still on auto background updates (yes), but I couldn't e-file due to a newer version.  Then I downloaded the updates within the program.  I saw it downloading, but they didn't install.

I never had this kind of problem with the scheduled updates.

Also note that it would be very helpful in the e-file wizard if it gave a warning about pending updates needed before actually going through the whole e-file step and getting a message afterward.

Is Lacerte ever going to fix this problem?  Reinstalling the program via toolhub every time there is an update is tedious and time consuming - not to mention having to make sure everyone one is off the system because a reboot is going to be required.  And this problem has carried over to 2025 version.  There is definitely something wrong with the programming for installing the updates

I have this problem also.  I go back to Lacerte and download the program from there web site and it will update the latest version
