Hawaii part year return

CA resident moved to HI in 3/2023.

Sold a rental and had a taxable gain in 7/2023.

Filing Part-year 2023 state returns for both HI and CA.

Question: Does HI tax the CA sale?  (Sale occurred AFTER establishing HI residency.)

IF yes, because tax credit for paying another state is NOT available on the HI part-year return, double taxed?

If it's not available on the Hawaii part-year return, why does Page 41 of the N-15 instructions tell you how to figure it?

Yes HI will tax all income earned by a resident.

The more I know the more I don’t know.
