Schedule CA-NR isn't calculating according to the directions in Part III, Line 5e, Column A.

Has anyone seen this?

Can you upload a screenshot of your whole SALT section from that form? There are so many if-this-then-thats around SALT at the state level, that would help give more clarity here as to whether there's actually a calc error, a presentation error or an input error.

Aha!  I found the number, thanks to your direction.  SALT was limited by income.  Thank you so much!

Can you be more specific about what it should be calculating vs what it is calculating? I haven't noticed anything off, but maybe I'm missing something.

Thanks for the reply.

In Part III of Schedule CA-NR the software correctly lists state and local income taxes on Line 5a and real estate taxes on 5b.  The total is $56,025 shown on 5d.  Line 5e says to enter  the smaller of 5d or  $40,000 but the program is showing $12,439.  There's no "jump to" or worksheet that explains this.

It affects the way CA taxable income is calculated.
