NO MORE 1040 PAYMENTS, RETURNS ETC TO BE SENT TO CINCINNATI

Check to see if the addresses have been updated for your states here:
https://www.irs.gov/filing/where-to-file-paper-tax-returns-with-or-without-a-payment

The states I am certain of have changed:
Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Michigan, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming

1040-V (and paper-filed 1040's with checks enclosed) for the above states are now sent to:
Internal Revenue Service
P.O. Box 931000
Louisville, KY 40293-1000

1040-ES for the above states are now sent to:
Internal Revenue Service
P.O. Box 1300
Charlotte, NC 28201-1300

Lacerte is working on the update but there is no ETA for its release. Currently there isn't a way to override the 1040-ES, but you can override the 1040-V address in screen 5.1 Client Letter -> IRS Center and choose one of the options that lists Louisville, KY as the second city.

Not urgent at this time but for these states, 4868's now go to the same Louisville address as a regular 1040-V.

Here is a summary of states = addresses for a paper-filed 1040, which should correlate with 1040-V as well, but not estimates.

https://www.irs.gov/filing/where-to-file-addresses-for-taxpayers-and-tax-professionals-filing-form-1040

Appreciate Jacob @ Lacerte for his time getting to the bottom of this today!

@Kathi_at_Intuit Please assist with how to override 1040-ES mailing addresses.

@shannondb  Thank you for tagging me, for the post about the address change, and your continued support in the community. The1040-ES currently does not have a dedicated field or method within the program to change the mailing address directly. Here are  the options for this:

  • Continue using Cincinnati address (IRS will forward it).
  • Override the client letter using the custom client letter
  • Manually send the payment to the correct address.

I'm just commenting here to keep this topic relevant. We need this fixed last week, please.

Well here we are in 2026 and the 1040-ES has JUST been released in Lacerte... and they are STILL printing with the Cincinnati address (for OR residents at current).

@Kathi_at_Intuit, I am sure you are being tagged every which way to Sunday currently, but do you know if this is ever intended to be corrected, or at least a workaround provided? It looks like we (again OR) had been expecting it to be a Charlotte, NC address but based on the 2026 1040-ES instructions, the vast majority of estimates will be sent to Louisville.

And I just checked, and there is still no way to change the estimate address via the "IRS Center" or similar in screen 5.1. We cannot possibly edit the PDFs for all of these vouchers and it is so clunky to have to explain to a client who we are sending vouchers to electronically, "you should ignore the mailing address on the official IRS payment vouchers we've provided and instead send them elsewhere..." 🙃

Hi @shannondb Thanks for tagging and checking in about the addresses. We appreciate you understanding if we do not answer right away. We checked on this and it will be coming in a future release of Lacerte. We do not have an ETA, but know it is coming and we appreciate the patience.
